What are some of the things that Student Council does? Freshman Orientation Council member help freshmen feel welcome as they are introduced to the high school and its various clubs and activities. Spirit Week Council members encourage school spirit and participation through various “Theme Days” during Spirit Week. Student Council is responsible for helping to provide the funding for the Homecoming Barbecue – the culminating activity of Spirit Week. Annual Red-Cross Blood Drive Senior Auction A Student Council sponsored auction in which seniors will be auctioned off to the highest bidders. All proceeds go toward Operation Santa. The Harvest Ball Semi-Formal This dance is a fun way to raise money for Operation Santa. We celebrate the autumn season in style! Operation Santa Student Council members help to spread Chrismas cheer to countless families in need. Rachel’s Challenge This program, based on Rachel Scott’s six diaries and countless acts of kindness and compassion, is the basis of a life-changing program encouraging students to show kindness and compassion to others. Rachel Scott was the first person killed at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999. Sudent Council sponsers many school wide activities including supplying prizes for the charity golf tournament, funding guest speakers, paying for busses for field trips, and sponsoring freshman going to the NYC trip.
